The terms of an affiliate marketing program are set by the company wanting to advertise. Early on, companies were largely paying cost per click (traffic) or cost per mile (impressions) on banner advertisements. The amount over 100% using this method of calculation is your profit. In this example, that would mean you received a 200% profit on the campaign.
All leads generated by affiliate’s need to be accurately accounted for so that all sides are up to date on any sales and commission due. Tracking links provide a real-time and automated process to log leads. Reliable tracking allows advertisers an overview on how successfully their affiliate campaigns are performing, in real time. The most typical types of tracking link are postback URL and cookie tracking. Deciding which one to use for your affiliate website will depend on your technical know-how and the nature of your affiliate program.

Earning income via Target affiliates, however, requires a bit of work. Cookies expire in just seven days, and commissions can be as low as just one percent, so you’ll need to be operating a high-traffic website in order to make serious cash with this program.
